MOVABLE MURALS

Movable Murals developed over time. Clients wanted to be able
to take their murals with them when they moved or changing their decor.
In this particular series I explored the beauty of all types of metallic leaf, texture
and reflection holding so much interest for me. After painting many
trompe l'oeil murals, I have come to enjoy playing with the viewer's eye.
Through distortion of all types you can see so much movement in every aspect
of the murals, things seem frozen in a split second of time, almost rippling and
undulating. Most of this series is painted on stretched canvas with wood skins
on the backs that are painted with a coordinating color providing a beautiful
backdrop from any direction in a room. The paints that are used are acrylics
mixed with metallic bronzing powders of various colors, giving the acrylics a
special iridescence that shimmers next to the gold leaf. The canvas and
various gel mediums provide a lot of texture allowing the metallic leaf to refract
the light, giving more depth to the painting.
All pieces have a clear satin protective coating.
